They’re friends one moment, enemies the next. The rivalry that has been building between Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson has been entertaining and we the boxing fans would love to see a showdown between the two. Luckily for us we may just get it.

Mike Coppinger’s famous sources have revealed that both Herring and Stevenson have both signed their contracts for their Junior Lightweight title fight and the bout is supposed to take place on October 23rd in Atlanta, Georgia.

The last time we saw Herring in the ring was in April of this year when he sent Ireland’s Carl Frampton into retirement. Herring is currently riding a seven fight winning streak and a victory in this bout against Stevenson would be what he needs to catapult himself into bigger and better everything.

Stevenson was last in the ring in June when he had a sparring session against a way overmatched Jeremia Nakathila. It was supposed to be a battle of the unbeaten fighters but someone forgot to mention that to Nakathila. This upcoming bout with Herring will be what boxing fans have wanted to see from Stevenson for a while now and that is a legitimate opponent. A win over Herring should guarantee that Stevenson get’s those name fighters that he has been calling out but has been unsuccessful at securing.
