It has almost been a full year since Jelena Mrdjenovich last fought. On April 28th, 2018 Mrdjenovich took on and successfully defeated Stephanie Ducastle in a rematch of their original fight that ended in a draw. Since that fight, there has been only one fighter that boxing fans want to see Mrdjenovich step in the ring with.

Heather Hardy held the WBC women’s international featherweight title and many were to assume she was next in line to face Mrdjenovich and it was a fight she wanted. Hardy would eventually go on to win the WBO belt in a rematch with Shelly Vincent.

Negotiations took place in 2018 for a fight and the fight was supposed to take place in New York and appear on Showtime but that did not happen and Mrdjenovich was left disappointed.

“Unfortunately some promoters aren’t true to their word when they make a promise,” stated Mrdjenovich at KO 85 in Edmonton. Mrdjenovich continued, “I will be fighting here Saturday June 22nd and I will defend my two titles.”

Negotiations are taking place for a title unification bout for the WBO title to be brought into the mix i.e. Hardy, but should those negotiations fail Mrdjenovich will most likely to return to the ring regardless of who is across the ring from her.
