Jermain-Taylor-FaceThe problematic two-time middleweight titlist Jermain Taylor is a champion no longer. The jailed boxer was stripped of his IBF middleweight belt, due to his current legal troubles obstructing his mandatory obligations.

The current mandatory challenger, Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam is now in line to fight for the vacant title. The next highest-rated contender is the former champion Felix Sturm, who is ranked 3rd by the IBF.

Taylor was scheduled to defend his title this evening against Sergio Mora at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, the same venue where he defeated Sam Soliman in an unenticing bout this past October.

However, Taylor just could not seem to stay out of trouble, yet again. A woman claimed that Taylor threatened to shoot her 5-, 3-, and 1-year-old children, and she swatted the gun away after the obscene Taylor put the weapon to her husband’s head in Little, Rock, Arkansas, on 19 January.

Taylor, 36, who already faces charges stemming from an August shooting in Maumelle, Arkansas, in which his cousin was shot, yielded a weapon and fired two shots into the air and threatened to kill her husband.

This move by the IBF will hopefully open up some slots for good fights in the near future. As for Jermain Taylor, we hope he can get some help.
