Jesus Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18 KO’s) has pushed himself into the spotlight after Saturday’s performance against Andre Berto by winning a twelfth round stoppage of the former two time world champion. Karass was the underdog going into the fight and was in a make it break fight as to where his career would go. It was actually a crossroads fight for both fighters.

Leading up to the fight fans seemed to pull more for Soto Karass but until he faced Marcos Maidana and Aydin, he was considered just a gatekeeper. Soto Karass has eight loses on his records but he is actually a fan friendly fighter and those losses were very entertaining, especially the Mike Jones and Maidana bouts.

With the victory over Berto, Soto Karass has taken himself away from gatekeeper status and has thrown his name up with the top fighters of the welterweight division. His newfound dedication to the sport has done well for him and it just goes to show you that you can’t judge a book by its cover, or a fighter by their record.
