Joe Deguardia Says Andrade And Algeri Are The Future of Boxing

When Floyd Mayweather Jr. retires from boxing who will take the reigns as the top dog? That’s a question that many people ask and speculation on who it will be varies from person to person. Joe Deguardia of Star Boxing has some tremendous talent in his stable and whether or not they will take over for Mayweather is uncertain but Deguardia is certain that two of his fighters will play a big part in the future of boxing. Those fighters, Demetrius Andrade and Chris Algeri.

Algeri will take on junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov at the Barclays Center. The bout was originally scheduled to be a big hometown fight for Algeri at  Nassau Coliseum but  was changed and according to Deguardia will make no difference and still be a big hometown fight for his fighter.

“Nassau would have been completely Algeri and we had ticket holders lined up like you wouldn’t believe when we were going to go out there,” said Deguardia. “So what happens, we end up in Brooklyn and guess what. We are in a premier location. We’re in a premier place and the Barclay’s center is really establishing itself in boxing and Chris’s fans will make it a little longer of a trek to come out there and you know Brooklyn and Queens are actually part of Long Island so it’s going to be in Long Island.”

Andrade last fought against Vanes Martirosyan in November for the WBO junior middleweight title and win a split decision. Now what’s left for Andrae is to continue to fighting, winning and looking good in the ring and become one of the top fighters out there andstep in the ring with the best out there.

“Demitrius has to fight, look good and the options will be right there for him because he is a talented fighter. He is a world champion who also has the most extraordinary natural talent. Those fights will develop and whatever is out there it is just a matter of time.”
