John Abella Returns September 27th in September

    After nearly a year hiatus it is now heavily rumored that featherweight John Abella (5-0-1 3KOs) will return in a card in Rancho Cordova, CA on September 27th. Abella, who is coming off his 2013 Northern California Fight of the Year against Christian Cartier in a highly entertaining back and forth battle in which saw Abella obtaining a knockout in the fourth and final round. Abella debuted in 2012 with four fights, but since has seen his output of fights gradually slow down as he fought twice last year and judging by where this fight falls in the calendar year, could simply fight just once this year. For Abella this fight is not just important to regaining the momentum of his career, but it will also be important for Sacramento boxing as he is one of the fighters who could shine light on one of the best fight cities in the world.

    In the co-main event, Abella’s stable mate at Caballero Boxing Gym in Sacramento, CA , featherweight Alberto Torres (4-0-2 1KO). Torres recently went down south to Oxnard, CA in which he fought to a draw with undefeated hometown fighter, Daniel Franco. Torres is looking to return to form as his last bout in the Sacramento was a knockout victory over Percy Peterson.

    It is also rumored that Light Heavyweight Ryan Bourland (2-0 1KO), who fights this coming Saturday, September 2nd in Pleasanton, CA, could end up on this card depending the outcome of his fight. It is also speculated Guy Robb (12-1 5KOs) could end up on this card though the odds of that may look grim now that he is booked for a fight in Fairfield a month prior.

    Luis Alfredo Cruz (0-0-1) of Broadway Boxing in Sacramento, CA will return after a year layoff after fighting Miguel Lopez to a draw in a fight that most pundits felt Lopez won. Cruz, a tough and rugged junior middleweight comes forward using brute strength and power to discourage foes. The card will be rounded out the card is the pro debut of junior bantamweight Mario Cardenas.
