Joseph Diaz Jr. Returns to Action September 29 on Tarver-Banks Undercard

    Golden Boy Promotions - PortraitsThaBoxingVoice.com caught up with former Olympian Joseph “Jojo'” Diaz Jr. Diaz Jr. is currently holding a perfect records of 11 wins, no losses with seven of those wins coming by way of knockout.

    The fighter told us that he is scheduled to fight on September 29 in Hidalgo, Texas. The fight will take place on the undercard of Antonio Tarver vs. Johnathon Banks and will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports 1. While his opponent is yet to be determined, Diaz Jr. told us that he is looking for a tough opponent. He elaborated on that, “I feel like tough opponents are a better experience for me. I will learn more from fighting tough opponents.”

    This will be Joseph Diaz Jr.’s fourth fight of the year and the fighter told us that he is looking for two more fights this year, after September 29. “I love being active”, he stated. “I’m always at the gym and training. So, if i’m 100% healthy, I feel like, just throw me in there. I’m ready to go.”

    Joseph Diaz Jr. is being seen as one of the best prospects of the 2012 American Olympic Class, but the fighter intends to not get caught up in the hype. He explained, “I avoid to become cocky. The praises actually make me train even harder. I want to live up to them.”

    To conclude the interview, we asked Joseph Diaz Jr. whether he goes into his next fight to win, or to look good. He answered, “The first goal is to win, but you got to look good as well. I want to win and want to show that I am ready for every opponent, and I want to give everyone a great show, but, the first goal is to win.”
