WBO and WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada (25-2, 18 KO’s) is currently seeking revenge for the second loss of his professional career against Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez from Nicaragua.

Late last year these two little ring warriors fought in what was an unrecognized fight of the year candidate with Gonzalez walking away with a tough fought victory.

Since the loss to Gonzalez, Estrada’s recognition in the sport gained rapidly as he become the only fighter to come close to defeating Gonzalez.

Soon after the Gonzalez fight Estrada moved up in weight to take on Brian Viloria with whom Gonzalez had been in search of a mega-fight with. Estrada soundly beat Viloria to take his titles.

“My next opponent will be the winner of the fight between Marquez and Segura,” said Estrada. “Let’s see if I will face the winner or go against someone else. I would like to face ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez in a rematch. I think he won’t be able to do anything at my weight and he will lose his undefeated record to me.”

Should the rematch happen it will be just want Gonzalez has wanted since the two last faced off. Gonzalez has been in pursuit of the rematch for almost a year and when Estrada showed no interest in the fight Gonzalez moved on but with this recent turn of events and Juan Carlos Reveco seemingly unwilling to face Gonzalez at the present time it may happen but Estrada may have something else on the agenda.

“In May I have to take a mandatory defense and it has to be against those two. If it goes ahead, I have no one to fear but if that fight does not happen I want to face Gonzalez.”
