Juan Manuel Marquez If there’s anyone that knows the ins and outs of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, it is another great of this era, Juan Manuel Marquez. He’s been in the ring with both losing to Mayweather and drawing and losing to Pacquiao twice both controversial but redeeming it with a monumental knockout of Pacquiao. So while he remains still on picking Mayweather, he does give Pacquiao chances if he follows a gameplan.

“Floyd Mayweather isn’t really used to fighting with southpaws,” Marquez said on the show Golpe Y Golpe. “It’s complicated. We know how Floyd Mayweather uses his shoulder roll, so with an orthodox fighter he can dodge many of those shots and wait for openings in his opponents than counter. Manny Pacquiao on his part has to use his speed, and lateral movement and in turn do not give Mayweather any space or minimal space to make him uncomfortable on that very stance.”

Marquez feels the speed and combination selections of Pacquiao could be the key to his victory.

“The right hook will be key as a lefty for Manny Pacquiao,” said Marquez. “He can set it up by using a left jab to the body and following it up with a hook from the outside and repeating a double hook and he can finish it off with a straight left. The repetition will be key in landing those combinations and Pacquiao has to change it up for Floyd not to adapt.”

Mayweather is known as one of the greatest counterpunchers of all time and Marquez feels he will make Pacquiao pay if Pacquiao doesn’t get inside and make Mayweather uncomfortable.

For Manny Pacquiao to be in that position it will be up to Mayweather to make him pay,” explained Marquez. “Pacquiao will have to be aware of what comes back from Mayweather when he goes into his shell. If Manny Pacquiao steps to his right when in close, it will close the distance when Mayweather sticks and moves. It will make Mayweather think when he tries to counter when Pacquiao comes in with his speed. The speed and the movement will be key for Pacquiao to win the fight.”

Mayweather is great at using distance but Marquez feels that if Pacquiao is consistent in close distance, it might make Mayweather take chances, and that’s how Pacquiao can capitalize.

“We know Mayweather is very smart in the ring, so making him uncomfortable will be key. He sets traps and throws nice uppercuts from long distance, and he will use that reach advantage to do so. He will follow that up with counter rights and straight lefts from range because of that advantage. If Manny Pacquiao can get inside of that reach with his speed and lateral movement,
