Top Rank and K2 Promotions have been working hard to try and finalize a fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Gennady Golovkin and word is the two promotions are getting closer to finalizing the fight which would see Golovkin move up to 168 pounds to take on Chavez. The fight between the two will take place on HBO PPV most likely on July 12th at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
Golovkin last fought in February winning a seventh round TKO over Osumanu Adams. Golvkin woul have fought once more in the upcoming months but took time off to mourn the passing of his father.
In the meantime, Chavez Jr. redeemed himself from a poor decision win over Brian Vera and won a clear decision in an entertaining bout.
