imagesBoth Chad Dawson and Tommy Karpency came out boxed aggressively out of the south paw stance trying to establish their range and distance.  Dawson was using his legs a bit and trying work off the jab throwing sharp combinations at times.  Karpency made it clear that he came to win by letting his hands go and throwing punches with power and bad intentions.  In round three Karpency caught Dawson with some great power shots including a hook that seemingly hurt Dawson. In the beginning of the fourth round Dawson came out with some respect for Karpency’s power and was looking to counterpunch.  However, he eventually broke out of that mind set two minutes into the round and went back to boxing aggressively.

Both fighters continued to do good work and stayed busy in the next two rounds.  Dawson showed a good chin at times during these rounds as he took some good power shots that seemingly had no effect on him.  However, Karpency hurt Dawson badly with a crisp straight left in the eighth round but was unable to finish him.

In round nine Dawson tried to finish the last two rounds strong but was unable to dominate.  Karpency manage to hurt him once more in the tenth round and left a good impression on the judges.  All in all, it was a competitive fight and many rounds could have been scored either way.  Both fighters looked good and fought a decent fight.  Chad Dawson drops to (32-4 18KO’s) while Tommy Karpency improves to (24-4-1 14KO’s).
