Looks like England’s new star maybe facing some big trouble according to Eddie Hearns, Kell Brook has injured his ankle. Devon Alexander Vs. Kell Brook is set for January 19, 2013 at the Nokia Center in La, but the title fight faces potential date change.

Kell Brook has been waiting for this opportunity a little over a year having faced Carson Jones in a title eliminator for the IBF Championship belt. Brook definitely got the tough test that he needed. Brook showed massive heart, staying in the fight though he was visibly exhausted and deeply troubled by the relentless pressure tactics of Jones. The American visitor became the test and barometer that Eddie Hearns was seeking to decide whether or not Brook was ready for the next level.

Enter Hector Saldivia:

“There were some demons after my last fight,” Brook said. “But I knew in the dressing room that I was ready. We’ve been hitting the numbers and when we go for the world title, we will carry on where we have left off. I am ready to turn into a machine.” http://m.guardiannews.com

Fresh with memories of his tight points victory against Jones, Brook knew he had to look impressive impress. A more focused Brook attacked from the sound of the bell and sent Saldivia crashing to the floor with a powerful uppercut in the first round with more of the same through the second round. Saldivia showed signs of attempting to respond towards the end that round but his comeback was met by a shot at the beginning of the third that left Saldivia unable to recover.

Kell Brook knocked out Hector Saldivia to become the mandatory challenger for the IBF welterweight title. Alexander won the title by beating ‘KO King’ Randall Bailey on points in Brooklyn’s Barclay Center, October 20, 2013

Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is working closely with Alexander’s Golden Boy Promotions team to delay the fight by a matter of weeks.

“Kell sustained an ankle injury that has hampered his training and running work over the last few days,” said Hearn. “I’m concerned mainly for the travelling UK fans and it’s in no-one’s interest for the fight to fall through closer to the time, so last night I requested a three to four week delay to the original date of January 19. This will eradicate the risk and ensure Kell will be 100 percent for the biggest fight of his life.”
