When the verdict was announced, Brook jumped with ecstasy that he finally accomplished his life long dream of becoming a world champion, and went back to his home country to celebrate. Unfortunately Brook’s career ran into a speed bump when he reportedly got stabbed in the leg in an unprovoked incident.

The injury halted his career, as he had to undergo surgery and a rehabilitation process. The doctors told Brook, the injury is not severe and he should be able to make a full recovery. It has been three months since the incident, but Brook has announced via twitter, “I’m back training, having no problem with leg I’ll be back in the boxing ring defending my world title in March!”

Brook has many viable options if he does in fact get a set date in March. The welterweight division is stacked with plenty of worthy contenders, but it seems he has shown much interest in facing Juan Manuel Marquez. Brook retweeted a quote stating, “According to hall of fame trainer Nacho Beristain ideal match up 2015 would be Marquez vs. Brook.” Brook has also shown interest in facing Marquez for quite some time. As of now Marquez seems as the number one choice for his first title defense, which could take place in England.
