Kid GalahadBritish and European super-bantamweight champion Kid Galahad(18-0, 9KO’s) has been handed a two-year ban by The National Anti-Doping Panel after testing positive for the steroid Stanozolol according to Dailystar.co.uk.

As if this news wasn’t damaging enough to the young Brit’s career and reputation, claims that the positive result is a consequence of Galahad’s own brother Mageed spiking him have also emerged. In fact, it was reported that Mageed “signed a sworn affidavit to the National Anti-Doping Panel confirming he had put the drug in the drink, but they still found Galahad guilty.” This is a strange set of events.

Galahad told Skysports.com how events unfolded.

“After my last fight[a unanimous decision win over Addison Dos Santos last September] I got notified two weeks after that I failed a drug test. I didn’t know what happened, I didn’t know what was going on until a few weeks later. I found out that a close family member actually spiked me. It was a malicious act committed after an argument over money.”

Why this ruling has taken eight months to come down after the results came back positive is a mystery.

The alleged villain of the piece is currently serving time in prison and so is unlikely to offer any additional information, but those closest to him do not paint a very flattering picture.

Galahad stands on his record, insisting he is innocent of any wrongdoing and that he intends to scrub any black marks from his name.

“I’ve been tested six times in the last year and passed every single test until my last fight and I’m devastated. Of course, I’m gonna appeal it.”

We will all have to wait to see how events unfold, but for now this news has obliterated any plans Galahad had of taking on either Carl Frampton or Scott Quigg for their world titles.
