Her father was the greatest. She wasn’t too bad herself, having held the WBC, WIBA, IWBF, IBA female super middleweight titles and the IWBF light heavyweight title. Add a KO over Christy Martin to the credentials and you know we are not talking about a hype job.

Laila Ali has known greatness her entire life. She was the fruit of its loins and could have done anything she wanted to in life. She had no need for boxing but she did it anyway. She was a business owner with a degree and even though her father was against it at first she fought and captured greatness. Eventually, Ali would retire from boxing in 2007 with a record of 24 wins and zero losses with 21 wins by knockout. That’s an 88% knockout ratio but could she add another knockout to her record? Is she in fact done or has that itch to fight come back to the now 40-year-old fighter?

Ali posted a poll on Twitter recently asking fans if she should come back for one last fight to celebrate her 40th birthday. The majority of the fans voted in favor of it which would be good for women’s boxing with the attention it is receiving at the moment and thank God she said boxing and is not trying to make the jump to MMA. Home is where you belong where you are one of the greatest.
