This upcoming weekend is a jam packed weekend for boxing fans around the world with Froch v Groves 2 and Donaire v Vetyaka taking place this Saturday with both fights being televised live on HBO.  However, those two fights aren’t the only compelling high profile fights going on this weekend.  Former 3 division world champion Vic Darchinyan (39-6 28KO’s) will be facing current WBA featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (23-0 19KO’s) in Macau China.

Darchinyan v Walters will be on the undercard portion of the Donaire v Vetyaka fight but will be televised on Top Rank App.  Darchinyan has competed in 5 different weight divisions. Even though his last fight was at featherweight this will be his first time against a true featherweight in Nicholas Walters.

Darchinyan only stands at 5’5 ½ tall while Walters stands at 5’7.  However, not only is Walters a true featherweight but he is a hard puncher in the division with nineteen of his twenty three fights ending in knockout.  But one has to take into account that despite being a world title holder, Walters hasn’t fought anybody of note and the best name on his resume is Daulis Prescott.

Clearly, Darchinyan has the edge in experience and undoubtedly has accomplished more in his career.  Both of these fighters fight in a fan friendly aggressive style and I anticipate this fight to be a very entertaining one for however long it lasts.
