sampsonFormer middleweight champion Sergio Martinez was in Las Vegas to see his countrymen rematch Floyd Mayweather. At his stay, Martinez said his decision to come back to boxing is dependent on his meeting with specialists on Tuesday.

The plan was confirmed by his manager Sampson Lewkowicz.

“The plan is we’re going on Tuesday to a doctor and whatever he says and if he’s capable to fight, we can try to work it out with Sergio Martinez,” Lewkowicz told ThaBoxingVoice.com. “Meanwhile we won’t think about any opponent till the doctor makes the final decision.”

Regarding one of his fighter’s that was in action last week, Lewkowicz says Kiko Martinez spirits are down but he intends to bounce back at a lower weight.

He’s feeling bad like a champion when he loses his belt,” explained Lewkowicz. “Kiko probably comes back at 118 not at 122. I think he can make 118 easy.  He was eating the day of the weigh in. I believe he can go to 118 and be a great champion.”

Lewkowicz believes the fighter that beat Martinez, Carl Frampton is the best 122lber in the world, even feels he can give Guillermo Rigondeaux a go.

“Carl Frampton is one of the best 122lbers in the world and I don’t see anybody at 122 beating him,” stated Lewkowicz. “Regarding Rigondeaux, I don’t know if he can beat him even though I love Rigondeaux because he’s really the sweet science of boxing but it’s not what the fans like. It doesn’t happen that fight. “

Javier Fortuna is one of Lewkowicz more exciting fighter. The plan for him is Abner Cotto and a title shot next year.

“Fortuna is ready to fight Abner Cotto. He promised to kick his ass is what he said as his idol is Sergio Martinez, so anything that has to do with Cotto that is a problem for him. He is two away from a title shot.”
