Saturday night has come and gone. Luke Campbell and Ryan Garcia after months of training have stepped into the ring and when the smoke cleared there was only one fighter that was victorious.
Luke Campbell suffered the first stoppage loss of his career after Garcia landed a leaping shot on Campbell’s liver that dropped the Brit to both knees. Campbell was unable to recover.
Boxing Twitter lit up with haters throwing shade at Garcia by discrediting Campbell, and there were many making excuses as to why Campbell lost. The only person that did not make an excuse was the most important person of all, Campbell himself.
In a social media post, Campbell opened up about the heartbreak he suffered Saturday night, and he gave Garcia the credit he deserves.
“Well I’m honestly heartbroken, I really wanted to bring the win back for you all. I’m sorry for that. I hope you all enjoyed the fight. Have to take my hat off to Ryan Garcia, well done and a massive future ahead for him. I wish him all the best.”
Campbell was truly a gentleman in defeat.
