Maidana-Lopez Stopped Too Early?

Saturday night’s fight between Marcos Maidana and Josesito Lopez was as exciting as the hype built it up to be. Both fighters showed great boxing skills, power, and heart. Both dished it out and took hard punches. In the sixth round Lopez was visibly hurt and went down from a shot to the temple. Lopez took some punishing punches afterwards which caused the referee to step in and stop the bout, but was it stopped too early?

Lopez was losing to Victor Ortiz who was connecting power shot after power shot when Lopez caught Ortiz with a nice shot in the ninth round which broke Ortiz’ jaw.

Lopez did take punishment against Maidana and he could have come back. Not taking anything away from Maidana, who put on a hell of a performance but the fight should have been left in the fighters hands.
