The boxing world lost one mega fight in August with Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua but gained another today.

Manny Pacquiao announced via social media that he and Errol Spence Jr. will face off on Fox PPV on August 21st most likely in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The last time Pacquiao stepped foot in the ring was in July of 2019 when he handed Keith Thurman his only career defeat. In doing so Pacquiao took Thurman’s WBA title. Since then Pacquiao has been stripped of said title and Yordenis Ugas has been elevated to the full champion.

Spence’s last outing was in December of 2020 when he made easy work of Danny Garcia. Fans have anticipated a match with Terrence Crawford but we all know how that went. Even Pacquiao was in line to fight Crawford and it could not be made.

This is a great fight for both fighters. Manny is in his 40’s and he’s taking on all these young fighters who don’t really want to fight each other (or so it seems). These fights show that Manny is one of the greats and is willing to take on all comers and for Spence, if he is not going to fight Crawford or any of the other younger fighters this will be the best challenge out there for him.
