Manny Pacquiao Morning WorkoutManny Pacquiao returned home to the Philippines after suffering a defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their long-awaited showdown. Pacquiao left the United States not only with a loss, but an injured shoulder which he had surgery on, and pending class action lawsuits.

After the fight, Pacquiao informed the media about the injury. He told HBO’s Max Kellerman that he thought he won the fight. His trainer Freddie Roach told the same media that he felt Mayweather ran throughout the fight.

While in the Philippines, Pacquiao maintains firm on his stance that he felt he beat Mayweather.

I reviewed the fight and kept score. I won by two points… But a decision has been made, and we have to accept it,” he said to the press in the Philippines. “I won by two points.”

The judges saw it differently, and mostly everyone else saw it differently. But his shoulder surgery was successful and for the next few months his concentration will be about healing the shoulder.

“I will focus first on healing my shoulder. After that, I will announce continuing my career or announcing retirement,” Pacquiao said. “I’m not saying I am going to retire, but it’s near. I’m already 36, turning 37 this December.”

He’s expected to miss six months and then hopefully return to the ring next year. Mayweather had told Stephen A. Smith that a rematch was possible but then quickly changed his mind calling him a coward for not giving him any credit for the victory.

The pay-per-view numbers were also released for the fight at a staggering 4.4 million buys netting almost 500 million dollars in revenue. David Mayo of MLive.com has said that if his math is correct, Mayweather will walk away with 209-210 million dollars and Pacquiao 142-143 Million dollars. So with those numbers you could see why a rematch may be financially in the cards. Pacquiao says he’s open to doing it again.

“I (would) like that. I want that. But my focus right now is my shoulder, my work as a congressman and my family.”
