Marco Antonio BarreraMarco Antonio Barrera is one of the best fighters of the last generation. He was a part of our version of the four kings which also include Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao, and Juan Manuel Marquez. He will go down as one of the best Mexican fighters of all time. Boxer turned media analyst; Barrera was asked about Mayweather-Pacquiao and who should be the favorite. He feels it deserves to be Mayweather.

“He(Mayweather) is the favorite and should be,” Barrera told ThaBoxingVoice.com “Both these guys have similar fighters on their resume. The difference is Manny Pacquiao was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather did what he wanted with Marquez.”

Marquez has been Pacquiao’s biggest rival fighting him four times. Pacquiao’s kryptonite in those fights has been Marquez’ counter punching. Barrera feels that is why Mayweather should be the favorite on that alone

“That’s exactly what it is,” said Barrera. “He’s faster and a better counter puncher than Marquez.”

A lot has been said about Mayweather and his competition through the ranks. A lot of people have said Mayweather has avoided some of the best fighters at their peak to preserve the zero in his loss column. Barrera feels that it isn’t really true.

“I think he has fought some of the best when he was a champion,” explained Barrera. “He’s faced other champions on his division. He has fought the best competition he could have.”

While the magnitude of this fight is something we haven’t seen this generation, Barrera feels that the fight could be won by Mayweather rather easily.

“It could be very easy for Floyd because of his style. If Manny Pacquiao doesn’t adapt in the ring, it could be a very easy fight for Mayweather. Mayweather can make a tough fight look easy so if Manny is just going to follow him around, it will be an easy fight.”
