WBC interim champion Marco Antonio Rubio and his team are currently waiting  for negotiations to begin to face middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Rubio believes that size will be an issue for a fight with Cotto and that if Cotto will not fight him at the 160 pound weight limit because he is “too small” for the division then he should step aside and go back down to junior middleweight.

“If you can not [fight me at 160 pounds] then step aside,” said Rubio bluntly.

Rubio has gone 6-0 since losing his last shot at a major title against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. back in 2012 and last fought in April.
