Marcos “El Chino” Maidana had the biggest victory of his career last month when he put a whooping on the heavily favored Adrien Broner and despite Golden Boy’s plans Maidana doesn’t care too much for the rematch, at least for now. Instead the hard hitting Argentinean would like to clear a loss from his record and is a rematch that is currently two years in the making.

Amir Khan has been a thorn in Maidana’s side since before the two ever stepped foot in the ring. Khan and his then trainer Freddie Roach wanted no part of Maidana and had stated that Khan wasn’t ready yet to step in the ring with such a heavy handed opponent so they prolonged the fight as much as possible. Come fight night it looked like it was all going to be over with that one body punch but Maidana worked his way back into the fight and had Khan on his bicycle throughout the last couple rounds.

Since the loss Maidana has wanted to seek redemption but has not been given the opportunity.

“I went after him for two years for the rematch and they hid. I was never given the rematch,” said Maidana via Twitter. “Amir never gave me the rematch. Now I beat the shit out of Adrien Broner and they want me to give an immediate rematch. Let’s see Adrien, let’s see.”

Should Maidana skip the Broner rematch and get the shot against Khan we would most definitely see a different fight this time around since Maidana has improved as a fighter and would apply even more pressure this time around. If you add the fact that he has power in his jab then Khan could go down and out this time around.
