On May 21st Mariana Juarez (54-10-4, 18 KO’s) will return to the ring after an almost seven-month hiatus. In her last outing, Juarez lost her WBC Bantamweight Title to Yulijan Luna.

Juarez’s next opponent is Susy Sandoval (10-17, 2 KO’s). Sandoval had fought against and lost twice to Juarez’s sister Lourdes. Currently, Sandoval is on a six-fight losing streak which makes her hungry for a win but that should play into Juarez’s hands as she will be looking to put on a show and get her title back from Luna.

Should this fight go the way Juarez expects it will put her in the history books for the most wins from a female boxer. The current record is held by Regina Halmich (54-1-1, 16 KO’s) of Germany. Halmich competed from 1994-2007 and helped popularize boxing for women in Europe.

Tune in Friday for a chance to watch history on Jaurez YouTube page at 7 o’clock (I’m guessing Mexico City time).
