The last time Mariana Juarez (54-10-4, 18 KO’s) stepped into a boxing ring she was riding an eleven fight win streak dating back to 2016. She had momentum on her side and had faced better competition than her opponent Yulihan Alejandra Luna Avila but twas not to be. Juarez ended up losing her WBC Bantamweight Title via unanimous decision.

Juarez has been away from the ring since Halloween of last year and was believed to be stepping away from boxing to pursue a career in politics. That rumor was squashed by Juarez who stated that a journalist took the work that she was doing and turned it into something far from what it in reality was to get views.

After a half-year away from the ring, Juarez is set to make her return to the ring this time against Susy Kandy Sandoval (10-17, 2 KO’s). The bout is scheduled for eight rounds and will take place on May 21st.

Sandoval has fought Juarez’s sister Lourdes twice, losing on both occasions. Her most notable victory came against Jacky Calvo in 2018.
