Karim-Mayfield-beats-Raymond-Serrano-5th-rd-KO-051312Karim Mayfield (18-2, 11 KOs) returns to the Bay Area as OPP and Mo Betta Entertainment proudly presents “Back To Business , War On The Wharf” at the Longshoremen’s Hall in San Francisco, CA on November 8th. “Karim Mayfield is the closest style to boxing legend and triple crown champion Henry Armstrong, the way he comes forward,” said promoter Osric Pratt. “I think it is about time I come back to the Bay,” Mayfield explained when talking to ThaBoxingVoice earlier this year when the card was made official as his big brother, LaRon Mayfield will help co-promote the event.

Mayfield, who lost a fight to Emmanuel Taylor earlier this year that many felt should have gone Mayfield’s way. Mayfield is hopeful to look impressive in front of his hometown, but is looking for bigger things in the future.

Mayfield will return against Michael Balasi (10-5, 7 KOs) of Hawaii, who has recently found tough times in the sport of boxing, but has legitimate one punch power. Balasi as of late has been in against tough prospects such as Jonathan Garcia and Dusty Hernandez Harrison and will provide a stern test for Mayfield to see if he still has the passion for the sport. What makes the fight exciting is the fact that both fighters will come forward and engage and both have a high knockout ratio meaning this fight will probably not go the distance.

In the co-main event, the best heavyweight in women’s boxing, Martha Salazar (12-4, 3 KOs) returns to action after her impressive decision win over number one contender Sonja Lamonakis (9-1-2, 1 KO) in 2013. Salazar, who is the most decorated female heavyweight boxer currently fighting will look to put on a show in her hometown of San Francisco as she continues her highly decorated career.

Also featured on the card is Filipino standout Adam Fiel (3-0, 2 KOs). Fiel, trained by the legendary Nonito Donaire Sr., was a decorated amateur and is known for his devastating power in either hand. Fiel hopes to continue on his winning ways and garner another knockout as he takes on Carlos Gonzalez (1-5) of Bell, CA. Fiel explained that the fight is exciting for him, because Gonzales is the most experienced guy he has faced to date and looks to make the most of this opportunity on such a big stage.

The card also features a battle of boxing industry insiders as BeatTheCount.com owner, San Francisco’s own Mario Cabrera Jr. will face Fairfield’s Bobby Sanchez of BoxerSponsors.com in a heavyweight grudge match in as amateur bout that will be featured on the main card. The fight has been a year in the making and promises to be a must see match of pride, will and commitment from fans of the sport turned into fighters for one night.

Marquita Lee (2-0) of Novato will also rematch Laura Deanovic (1-6) from a bout that took place in San Rafael in 2011. Ricardo Pinell (9-1-1, 6 KOs) will face the man who knocked out James Page in his return to the ring in 2012, Rahman Yusubov (11-19, 9 KOs). Rounding out the card is Otis “OT” Seymore making his professional debut in his hometown of San Francisco, CA. It is rumored , but not confirmed that Khrys Daniel (0-1) of Delhi, CA may be facing Seymore.

Sage The Gemini will perform a set during intermission as well as beverages will be provided by Earl Stevens winery, which is the winery of rapper E-40.
