Freddie Roach Floyd Mayweather Sr.,You knew that when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao agreed to fight on 2 May, there were going to be people who were not going to be enlivened by the announcement. After close to six years of waiting, the fight of the century will finally go down at the MGM Grand.

Despite the fact that Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the father and trainer of the pound-for-pound king, even he was not enraptured when he heard the official word that Mayweather-Pacquiao was a done deal in an interview with Dontae’s Boxing Nation.

“I will be honest with you, I was not really all that excited because I’ve been hearing that over and over and over and over,” said Mayweather Sr.

Like many boxing fans and media members alike, the legendary trainer grew sick of the hearsay because there was no telling whether any of the information bestowed was truthful or not. Even HBO’s Jim Lampley was intransigent, as he believed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was going to rematch Miguel Cotto, who he beat by unanimous decision in May 2012. However, the time lost is irretrievable and Mayweather Sr. is just happy the fight is going to happen.

“The fight is on now, and we’ll kick some ass,” a confident Mayweather Sr. asserted.

Speaking of kicking ass, the only trainer who expressed that at the press conference was Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, with Mayweather Sr. abstaining from comment.

“Roach had the nerve to say something. I got some words going back to him already, so that’s going to wake him up.”

When asked why he was not allowed to speak, Mayweather responded by using the same nickname he used to describe Roach in the buildup to Pacquiao-Hatton, a fight that Pacquiao won by second-round KO, adding that both he and Pacquiao will be defeated and forgotten in the sport of boxing after May 2nd.

“The ‘Joke Coach’ Roach. He spoke. Floyd didn’t get a chance,” Mayweather Sr. laughed. “All of the accolades and this and that, there will be no more.”

Then, Floyd Sr. failed at poetry, but he tried, right?

“The king is here. The master is here. It’s over. Freddie ‘The Dead Joke Coach’ Roach wouldn’t dare to approach he’s the Roach Floyd smoke with no hope.”
