As the numbers begin to roll in we are discovering that the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao is as big as we all thought it’d be.

Major Mexico broadcast networks Azteca and Televisa reached a deal to both buy the rights to broadcast Mayweather-Pacquiao in their respective markets. The deal was for $2.3M total, although there are still some other details that need to be worked out; however the money is set. This total is record breaking and shattered Mayweather-Canelo’s 2013 fight (the previous record) by double. However, Solar TV in the Philippines paid $10M for the fight and the expected total for international broadcasting revenue is expected to reach up to $35M total.

There is still some question as to what platform will be used to broadcast the fight, but it will likely have a 30minute delay. Still, both networks will run the broadcast simultaneously.

Azteca and Televisa are fierce rivals, and there is a comparison to be made with HBO and ShowTime in terms of domestic competition for boxing broadcasting. Televisa has broadcasted the most recent Mayweather fights while Azteca has shown more Pacquiao fights since 2007.
