October “Boxer of the Month” awarded to Golovkin

Gennady GolovkinLos Angeles, CA (November 12, 2015) Boxing Superstar, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin was awarded the World Boxing Association’s‘Boxer of the Month’ for October 2015. The award was given following his dominant eighth round stoppage of David Lemieux on October 17 in front of a sold-out crowd of 20,548 at the ‘Mecca of Boxing’ Madison Square Garden.
The victory raised Golovkin’s record to 34-0 with 31 knockouts including 21 consecutive stoppages in the 15th defense of his WBA world title and improved his knockout ratio to 91.2%, the highest in middleweight division history. This is the sixth time Golovkin has won the monthly award from the WBA.
Currently the WBA/IBF/IBO and “WBC” Interim Middleweight Champion, Golovin is next setting his sights on the winner of the Miguel Cotto/Canelo Alvarez Middleweight Title bout on Saturday, November 21
“Gennady wants to unify all four major sanctioning body titles.” said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions. “He will be sitting ringside on November 21 in Las Vegas and looks forward to facing the winner as soon as possible.”
This past Sunday night Golovkin was a special guest of the Dallas Cowboys at AT & T Stadium and held media events in Dallas and San Antonio in his first trip to Texas.
“Gennady is one of the most marketable fighters in boxing and the Cowboys recognize that he is selling out every stadium when he fights.” continued Loeffler. “The media and fan receptions at are our events in Dallas and San Antonio were overwhelming and there is a huge demand for Gennady to fight in Texas, he’s clearly  become the ‘People’s Champion.’”
On December 13, Golovkin will head to Panama City, Panama to attend the WBA’s 94th annual convention.
“Gennady is the most active world champion in boxing and he provides excitement every time he enters the ring,” added Loeffler.
In the last three years Golovkin has fought 11 times with all of his victories coming by knockout while providing some of the highest TV ratings worldwide for his fights.
