Omar DouglasUndefeated super-featherweight Omar Douglas (14-0, 11 KO’s) will return to the ring on Tuesday, September 15 on the undercard of Sammy Vasquez-Jose Lopez as Premier Boxing Champions on Fox Sports 1 presents Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays.

The 24-year-old is coming off a first-round stoppage of faded former title contender Daniel Attah in April.

Douglas was slated to fight Frank De Alba on the Danny Garcia-Paulie Malignaggi undercard in August, but De Alba was sidelined with a non-career threatening medical issue, and the fight was subsequently canceled.

In an exclusive interview with Tha Boxing Voice’s Nestor Gibbs, Douglas was not expecting to get another shot on PBC so soon.

“We knew we would have a fight soon. There was a card in Atlantic City that wasn’t too far after that New York date, but that card fell apart. Once that card fell apart, then this card came up as a possibility,” Douglas explained.

Omar Douglas Sr, the father and trainer of Omar Douglas, assured Gibbs that his son would be in shape fight night.

“O [Omar] never left the gym anyway,” he added. “O is right back in the gym.”

“They told us, ‘We’ll have you on something real soon.’ So from there, O relaxed a little.”

Douglas Sr. revealed that his son would be fighting Braulio Santos (12-2, 10 KO’s) on the opening bout of PBC’s second annual Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays on Fox Sports 1.

The WBA No. 10 ranked fighter has a bright future ahead of him. With a number of wins against experienced opposition and his career under the Al Haymon banner, we should expect more things from Omar Douglas.

Approaching his second fight of 2015 on Tuesday, expect Douglas to end the year on a high note. At this rate, Douglas could see himself in a world title fight by the end of 2017.
