David LemieuxDavid Lemieux and Hassan N’Dam will square off for the vacant IBF Middleweight world title on June 20 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Lemieux’s hometown.

“It was really important for my team and me to bring this fight here to Quebec,” Lemieux said in a statement. “Quebec has supported me since the very beginning, and for that I am extremely grateful. I want to live this significant moment of my career with Quebecers and will do all that I can for them to be proud of me. I am ready to offer the very best of myself. Those close to me and my fans will see all the blood they want.”

Lemieux is coming off a 10 round stoppage this past December against Philadelphia’s Gabriel Rosado. In that bout, it was his first bout under the Golden Boy banner in a one fight deal. He won and Golden Boy signed him and won the purse bid for this fight in April for $102,000, which will be split evenly between the fighters.

The IBF belt was stripped from Jermain Taylor due to his legal and mental issues. Hassan N’Dam defeated Curtis Stevens last year to grab the number 1 spot for the belt. The bout was originally supposed to take place on June 19th but was moved to the 20th. As far as television for the bout, rumor has it Fox Sports 1 is in the lead to land the fight.

No matter where the bout lands, promoter Oscar De La Hoya says, it will be action packed.

“David Lemieux versus Hassan N’Dam will be an action-packed fight the fans in Montreal will be excited to see on June 20,” Oscar De La Hoya said. “Hassan and David are both elite fighters in the middleweight division with fighting styles that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. This is just the kind of fight boxing needs to have. The fans want action in the ring and both David and Hassan are sure to deliver that.”
