Without an official date Oscar+De+La+Hoya+Canelo+Alvarez+Victor+Ortiz+yNidDGwnlXdxyet set for the signed Canelo Alvarez-James Kirkland bout, Oscar De La Hoya feels the urgency to make a decision on the May 2nd date. While the world awaits for the Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations to go through or fall through, De La Hoya wants to lock down a date and venue for his HBO date with Canelo Alvarez.

De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com, “Look, I’m going full steam ahead with May 2nd. We’re going full steam ahead with May 2nd. We’re going to announce the ticket [details] shortly. Canelo-Kirkland, May 2nd, from Texas. The only way we’re moving is if Pacquiao-Mayweather happens. That’s the only fight that’s going to move us.”

The Alamodome is the front runner for the fight. According to Leija-Battah and Golden Boy, if the match occurs in San Antonio, the arena might be scaled for 65,000 fans.

According to the report, if Mayweather-Pacquiao happens, De La Hoya has a backup date with HBO for May 9th. However, if Mayweather fights Miguel Cotto or Amir Khan, then HBO and De La Hoya will go head to head with a Mayweather Showtime Pay-Per-View.
