Rumors began to swirl earlier this week about a mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao being agreed upon by both fighters. Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz quickly shot down those rumors and the latest word from Pacquiao confirms what Koncz said and with Floyd not wanting to work with Top Rank and Bob Arum then there isn’t a chance in hell the fight will happen, at least for this year since Pacquiao’s contract with Top Rank is still valid this year.

“Floyd has been saying that he will only fight me if I separate from Top Rank and Bob Arum,” said Pacquiao. “That’s impossible because my contract is still valid (with Top Rank) throughout this year.”

After the year is over and Pacquiao fulfills his obligations with Top Rank he can pursue a fight with Mayweather as a free agent but should he sign again with Top Rank the chances are slim to none that the fight will happen.

“If I don’t renew my contract we can talk next year.”
