Krzysztof GlowackiThe PBC on Spike TV telecast from this past Friday delivered a fight of the year candidate between Marco Huck and Krzysztof Glowacki. It also delivered food ratings for the network.

According to Nielsen Research, the doubleheader from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey averaged 679,000 viewers on the telecast. It was a two fight telecast with the co-main event between Huck and Glowacki providing drama.

Marco Huck was making his stateside debut and was the favorite. Glowacki was doing the same but was less heralded. From the get go, Glowacki proved to be a worthy adversary for Huck. In front of over 5800 screaming fans, most of them Polish in Newark; Glowacki was game and putting up a fight. Huck dropped Glowacki with a hook in the 6th in what was a back and forth round of the year type of stanza. Glowacki looked seemingly out of it but recovered and fought his heart out to end the round.

It looked like Huck was taking control of the fight but was leaning in and backing out straight with his hands down. In the 11th round, it cost him. Glowacki landed and overhand right sending Huck to the canvas. Huck looked done, but his heart picked him up. He made the count, and Glowacki pounced on him sending him through the ropes and forcing the referee to stop the fight.

It was around that time where Spike TV hit its peak audience of 874,000 viewers.

Too bad the main event didn’t nearly deliver as much as the co-main with many eyes on it. Antonio Tarver battled Steve Cunningham to a split draw in what was a sudden drop in excitement after the crowd, and the TV viewers were treated to such a good fight moments before. Tarver looked every bit of his 46-year-old age, and Cunningham just didn’t have the power to force Tarver to do or throw more.
