‘The organization does not make the boxer. The boxer makes the organization.” That were Jose Pedraza words when asked about the value of his recently won IBO super featherweight title against Alberto Garza. ”Look at Golovkin. He still keeps the IBO on his trunks,” Pedraza continued.
Jose Pedraza is an undefeated super featherweight from Puerto Rico. Currently training in California for his upcoming showcase fight on ESPN, on August 15. ”In boxing you need to take things step by step,” the fighter explained. ”The IBO title is the first step to be recognized by fight fans and by other fighters.”
Pedraza told Thaboxingvoice.com that his first goal was to become champion of the world. He feels that he achieved that goal with winning the IBO title. On his next goal he said, ”Now I want to unify the titles. I want to fight the other champions.” In order to achieve that, Pedraza feels that he needs the exposure. That’s why he took a 6-round fight on the undercard of the Cotto vs. Martinez card. And that’s why he is now taking this fight on ESPN, against a fighter later to be announced. He feels that that will get him in the ring with the likes of Mikey Garcia, Takashi Miura, Takashi Uchiyama and Rances Barthelemy.
In the meantime, the 25 years old Pedraza is determined to give validity to his IBO title by defending it as often as possible.
