Peterson+wins+112IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Lamont Peterson was on hand to watch his good friend Adrien Broner take on Emmanuel Taylor this past Saturday night. Thaboxingvoice.com caught with him after the fight and got a chance to pick his brain about some interesting topics.

We asked him how he thought next week’s rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana would turn out and he said, “Floyd boxes him. He doesn’t lay on the ropes as much this time. He boxes him and maybe wins the fight ten rounds to two.” He went on to say that he thinks the only way Maidana can win the fight is by knockout.

That wasn’t the only question we asked him about Mayweather. In an interview last week conducted by Ben Thompson of FightHype.com, Mayweather was critical of the fact that Peterson still held on to his title after losing to Lucas Matthysse last year. Although the fight was contested at 141 pounds and Peterson’s title was not on the line, Mayweather believes that Peterson should have vacated the belt. When asked what he thought about Mayweather’s comments Peterson replied, “I could care less about what he said or what anybody else thinks. There are a lot of things that I might not have done that he has done. None of that makes any difference. We are fighters. We get in that ring and we fight, point blank, so who cares about what he says.”

“At the end of the day I learned in this game and I learned in life. You don’t ever worry about what people say. Everybody is going to have a different opinion or nitpick at this and that, but none of that means anything. There are some things I could say about him, but who cares? That’s the way he wanted to do it, and I respect him.”
