PBC on NBC made its debut last Saturday. The first show was the first time boxing has been ion primetime NBC on a Saturday night. The show doesn’t stop there. PBC on NBC will return on April 11th with quite possibly a bigger platform, live from Brooklyn, New York.
The Barclays Center will host a main event between a staple of the Barclays Center Danny Garcia of Philadelphia against Washington D.C.’s own Lamont Peterson. The most important factor on that night might be the co-main event. Peter Quillin being the only guy on the card from New York will take on Irishmen Andy Lee for the WBO Middleweight title, a title Quillin dropped in 2014 because of his 2015 plan. Now that plan seemed to be coming to fruition.
“I’m glad to be a part of such an event, seeing the fans support boxing on the highest level on the biggest platform,” Quillin told ThaBoxingVoice.com “I’m very blessed with this.”
Quillin feels he’s got a lot to live up to, especially with the performance put on by main eventer of the first PBC on NBC, Keith Thurman.
“I always had high expectations of Keith especially stepping in there with a Robert Guerrero, who’s very determined to secure victorious also,” Quillin said. “This fight was for the fans; the fans got what they were hoping to see which was fireworks. I’m hoping to match this kind of performance April 11th.”
Quillin is so high on Thurman that he feels he maybe the guy to run through 147 lb division after Floyd Mayweather Jr. retires.
“If Floyd maybe retires out the game, maybe Keith is the one to hold that division down for a long time. He’s very determined and poised. I just can’t find the right type of words to describe a guy like Keith Thurman, who has a lot of tools.”
