Former two division world champion Rafael Marquez (41-8, 37 KO’s) has signed a four fight deal with Golden Boy Promotions in what will end an almost year absence from the ring.
“I signed for four fights with Golden Boy and my return will take place on September 7th in Los Angeles,” said Marquez.
Marquez last fought in October of 2012 against Christian Mijares. He lost that bout via a 9th round stoppage.
For his upcoming bout Marquez will more than likely reunite with his former trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain.
“People will see the difference in Rafael Marquez. I have to show that I still have a lot left and I will return better than before to give the fans a good show. There are many options out there that can face me. Abner Mares, Leo Santa Cruz and Victor Terrazas.”
