130 pound Nicaraguan fighter Rene “Super Chirizo’ Gonzalez last fought in October in one of the biggest fights of his career against Bryan Vasquez after a cut opened up over Gonzalez’ left eyebrow from a head-butt, Dissapointed with the loss Gonzalez had to rest but his determination only grew and he is set for his ring return.
On August 6th Gonzalez will move up in weight to the 135 pound division to take on Monte Meza Clay in Philadelphia which will also be Gonzalez’ U.S. debut.
“I will be fighting at 135 pounds for this fight but will return to 130 pounds,” said Gonzalez. “I have trained very hard even though I was protecting the bad cut from the Bryan Vasquez fight from last October. Now I feel like I am back into my rhythm.”
