downloadThaBoxingVoice.com had a chance to catch up with veteran trainer, Naazim Richardson. Was asked him about his take on a potential fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Richardson told us, “I don’t want to see them fight. I love both fighters. But when that fight is over, the trash will start. For the public to be satisfied after the long wait, the fight would have to be better and two times longer than Hearns-Hagler. And we all know that is not going to happen. They don’t have that type of fight in them. Maybe Pacquiao back in the day, but not anymore.”

But who does Naazim Richardson thinks is going to win, if the fight does happen.

“There was a time when I was certain that Pacquiao was going to win. And there was a time when I was certain Floyd was going to win. What I do know now is that when Floyd wins the fight, everybody will say afterwards that he only fought Pacquiao after he got knocked out.”

We asked the trainer if he thinks Floyd was ever afraid to fight Pacquiao. He answered, “We are talking about a guy with 47 wins and no losses. I got a kid in training, who just won his first fight, who thinks he can beat the world. Floyd’s confidence must be retarded after 47 wins.”

But there is one fighter, according to Naazim Richardson, that Floyd did not want to fight. “I knew Floyd was never going to fight Margarito. If you can not punch, I mean really punch, you are not going to beat Margarito. Margarito won’t stop coming. He is the last fighter who I believed was really willing to die in the ring.”
