World class trainer Freddie Roach has never been shy to speak out against fighters or trainers and in one of his latest he pulled no punches against Juan Manuel Marquez in trying to lure Marquez into a fifth fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Roach has said that he would like Pacquiao to face Marquez after Pacquiao faces Brandon Rios this November.

“A win over Marquez will push us closer (to a Mayweather fight),” said Roach. “We deserve a shot back and if he does not fight us I think he is a pussy.”

The shoe is definitely on the other foot. After the first two fights between Marquez and Pacquiao, Marquez wanted a rematch, he had to pretty much beg for it. Many viewers felt Marquez had done more than enough to win the first two fights and the third one was even more clear than the first two. Pacquiao’s team and Pacquiao himself said he was done with that chapter in his career after the second fight and Roach stated several times that Marquez did not deserve the rematch.
The fourth fight left no doubts as to who the winner was when Marquez KO’d Pacquiao and there was no controversial decision going either way.

Since the fourth fight Roach has pushed for Marquez to fight for a fifth time against Pacquiao and truth be told, no matter what Pacquiao’s fans say, Marquez has nothing left to prove.
In regards for a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight that Roach so desperately wants, the fight itself has lost enough steam especially with the KO. Let’s not forget that Floyd and Arum can’t work together no matter how big the financial gain for either is.
