In the fight, it looked like Rios was fresher and his trainer Robert Garcia feels that even if Alvarado were at his best, Rios still would have had the upper hand.

“It was a big win,” Robert Garcia told Fighthype.com “Everyone still congratulating me, everywhere I go they tell me Brandon looked great. Alvarado could have been in the best shape in his life, and the same thing would have happened.”

So what’s next for Rios? To Garcia, there are plenty of options.

“If you do well you get rewarded,” stated Garcia. “Now he’s got huge fights coming up. There are a lot of big names out there. If we go only Top Rank fighters, then you know Timothy Bradley is one that’s available. He’s a welterweight. You know he just fought Brandon just fought so 4 or 5 months, they can fight each other.”

But Since Golden Boy and Top Rank are now on business terms, Garcia says fights with guys from the other side of the old “Cold War” are available as well.

“You Know Golden Boy and Top Rank are doing business now, so you know maybe a Lucas Matthysse fight in the future,” explained Garcia. “Ruslan Provodnikov too. They’ve even mentioned Cotto depending on what Cotto does next. He’s not fighting Canelo. So if Mayweather does fight Pacquiao than that leaves Cotto with no opponent. So that’s an option.”

But Garcia preference is the future Hall of Famer Juan Manuel Marquez, not only because it would be a challenge for Rios but for himself as well.

“My preference is Juan Manuel Marquez because it would be a beautiful fight to fight a legend. It wouldn’t be easy; it would probably be very very difficult. Marquez is so talented and experience, but it would be a great challenge not only for Brandon but me. You Know going against Nacho Beristain, I don’t think I’ve ever went up against Nacho Beristain. So I wouldn’t mind doing that as a challenge.”
