Errol Spence Jr.

Errol-Spence-Jr.-Tom-Casino-Showtime-635As we know in boxing, things could change at a moments notice. Today, that moment happened for the co-feature to this weekend’s fight between Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter was Errol Spence Jr and Roberto Garcia. This afternoon Garcia apparently pulled out of the fight, and with rumors rampant that he is 20 pounds overweight, Spence Jr has been looking for a dance partner for what is supposed to be a showcase on TV.

Another fight that was supposed to happen this weekend was Karim Mayfield Jr v Ray Robinson, who pulled out of the fight a few weeks ago. Since then he has been trying to find an opponent to face on the undercard of Andre Ward vs. Paul Smith. Unfortunately, he was never able to find a suitable opponent that would be approved, and he is now off of that card that will take place in California.

I’ve been told that Mayfield was contacted to be a replacement for Robert Garcia and was told to take a blood test, which he did. Approximately 3 hours later, Mayfield was contacted and told that he was not approved for a fight at a raised weight limit of 148. So as we continue through the night just three nights before the fight, Errol Spence Jr currently has no opponent, and the search continues.
