roc_natRoc Nation looks to be making a splash in 2015 in boxing. According to a report from ESPN’s Dan Rafael , the company has agreed to a 3 card deal to be televised on Fox Sports 1 with the first card set for January 9th at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden.

The headliner of the card will be Dusty Harrison as he will take on Tommy Rainone. Harrison has fought in New York before and has a strong DC following where he’s from.

All of us at Roc Nation Sports are thrilled to announce our first boxing event along with our first series and television deal,” said David Itskowitch, Roc Nation’s main guy in the boxing division told Rafael. “An evening of exciting fights, great music and fantastic entertainment will be a fitting way to kick off ‘throne boxing,’ a series that will stand alone on the boxing landscape.”

In addition to the fights on Jan. 9, of which $1 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Muhammad Ali Center, Roc Nation Sports said there will also be live performances by Roc Nation artists still to be announced.

Although the other dates were not announced, Roc Nation made other news at it is on the verge of buying out Gary Shaw Promotions. Gary Shaw promotes the likes of Bryant Jennings, Thomas Dulorme, and Jose Pedraza among others, according to the report from Rafael.

Jennings was I attendance this past weekend in Brooklyn where the rumors of Klitschko-Jennings were in the air and a possibility of the bout taking place at the Barclays Center. Dulorme fought on the card as well.

Shaw would stay on if the deal is finalized and Roc Nation would take over the promotional agreements for all of Shaw’s fighters.

This is big news as Roc Nation has made offers to the likes of Peter Quillin, Keith Thurman, Deontay Wilder, and Guillermo Rigondeaux but was rebuffed by all 4.

Roc Nation wanted to make a splash in boxing in 2014 but with this deal it could be a big start for the Jay-z owned company.
