ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael reported that a deal has been reached between Roc Nation Sports and Gary Shaw that will allow Jay-Z’s company to absorb Shaw’s promotional company, and with it most of the fighters under the Shaw banner. The deal reportedly took more than a month to finalize, although Shaw had been working with Roc Nation Sports in an effort to help finalize their first card.
The agreement will see Shaw join Roc Nation Sports as he teams up with chief operating officer David Itskowitch. Together, the two will run the boxing division of Roc Nation Sports. Shaw will bring his staff along with him.
As it stands now with the deal in place, Roc Nation Sports now promotes heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings, Thomas Dulorme, Daniel Geale and Tureano Johnson to name a few.
While Roc Nation Sports is promoting its own card in New York, they will also have their fighters competing in California on the last Shaw Promoted card, which features Darleys Perez vs. Jonathan Maicelo (both now promoted by Roc Nation Sports) in the feature fight on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights.
