Not that it’s a hot rumor anymore, but a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto has been tossed around throughout the Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations. Even with the fight being at some catch-weight in the Middleweight division and even with the success Cotto had with Mayweather in the first fight, Roger Mayweather feels it’ll be easy work for his nephew.
“He’s going to get his ass whooped like last time,” Mayweather told HustleBoss.com “He can’t fuck with Floyd. First off, you already know he can’t fuck with us, and he knows that.”
Mayweather was under the impression that his nephew wasn’t even considering that fight. In fact, he felt his nephew was looking at Manny Pacquiao first and Amir Khan second.
“That’s who I thought he was going to fight (either Pacquiao or Khan),” stated Mayweather.
Mayweather is better in rematches with his opponents, and Roger Mayweather feels his nephew has proven that with Jose Luis Castillo and Marcos Maidana and the result would be the same for Cotto.
“Floyd’s going give it to him,” explained Mayweather. “Remember the guy Floyd fought the last time, Maidana. They thought Maidana was going to do it the second time, the second time he got his ass smashed. Cotto is going to get the same thing.”
