Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez is young, exciting, dangerous and an undefeated fighter who has dominated the two lowest weight classes for some time now. The closest he has ever come to a draw or a loss was to rising Mexican star, Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada in a thrilling bout late last year.

There has been talk for quite some time of Gonzalez moving up in weight to face Brian “Hawaiian Punch” Viloria in what would have been an amazing fight and a great breakout fight for Gonzalez into the American public eye. The fight fell through and Viloria went on to face Gonzalez’ last opponent Estrada.

If ever there was a right time for Gonzalez to move up in weight now is the time. Although he would love a rematch with Estrada, it does not look possible at the moment. “I wanted to fight ‘El Gallo’ Estrada but his handlers said no,” Gonzalez said. “Honestly, the fight I want is with ‘El Gallo’ to show people I’m a better fighter and I can win again.”

Gonzalez will take a tune up fight in his native Nicaragua on May 25th to stay busy while waiting for a bigger fight with Estrada, Viloria, or another top fighter at 112 pounds.
