Since Roman Gonzalez’ win over Akira Yaegashi earlier this month boxing fans have pushed for a second fight between he and Juan Francisco Estrada to be made and for it to happen on network television. Gonzalez would love for that to happen and so would his team but there is something else that they would love to happen even more that would suit the calibre of fight between he and Estrada and that would be on a possible Saul “Canelo” Alvarez pay per view in May on HBO.
Gonzalez has stated in the past that he would love to fight on a Canelo undercard and if Golden Boy (alongside Top Rank) wants to put a show on to rival Floyd Mayweather this would be one of the fights that they could put on the card and give Mayweather a run for his money and why not? The lower weight classes provide bigger action fights and are more fan friendly fights than many of the other divisions.
While we wait to see what happens in terms of that fight being made a close source to Gonzalez has said that there is a high probability of the fight landing on Canelo’s card.
