On September 3rd Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez attended a press conference in his native Nicaragua for the announcement of the undercard bouts that will take place on an event that Gonzalez will headline on September 21st.

“I want to make an impact on September 21st,” said Gonzalez. “On that night (September 21st) I will be better prepared than when I faced Ronald Barrera and this phase of training is for my November fight in Japan so I will be sharp.”

Gonzalez will face Mexico’s Francisco Rodriguez Jr. (15-1-1, 9 KO’s) later this month in a non title bout.

“He (Rodriguez) is a southpaw and a very determined fighter who is used to fighting at 112 pounds where I have dabbled,” said Gonzalez.

The bout against Rodriguez is a tune-up bout and the main goal is to land a fight against Juan Carlos Revecco (31-1, 17 KO’s) of Argentina who currently holds the WBA’s 112 pound title.

“With no disrespect to the Mexican but the truth is that my goal is Revecco. I want to become a 3 time world champion and with my faith in God it will happen. We have wanted to face the Argentine fighter and according to Mr. Akihiko Honda who is my international promoter, we will get a good purse for this fight.”
